I have a non immigrant O visa, married to Thai national, was giving 3 months and told to go back today with all the correct documents to extend to one year, took everything they had on there list, wife's documents, money in bank, they then sprung on me I needed a letter from apartment manager, and also a copy of her Thai identity card, this seemed ludicrous to think if I couldn't obtain an extension because someone would not part with there identity card, fortunately for me she did and I trailed back, so there is nothing on the list of what you require that mentions this, in English or in Thai, so I made an extra 60km journey on the whim of some official, no wonder people get disulisoned with the Thai system, it's a joke. So anyway just a heads up for anyone in the same boat.

A Rough Guide.
(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM)

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.
OR.
If income from outside Thailand: Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.
If Income from Thailand: Statements showing Income Tax receipts.
Marriage Certificate. (Kor Ror 3)
Marriage Registry entry. (Kor Ror 2)
Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.
Your Passport.
Copies of everything.
Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.
A map showing the way to your house.
Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.
Take your Wife to be interviewed.
One or two witnesses may be required.
You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.
Go back in a month and get the remainder.

In my experience, the immigration officials will always want one more paper than you present, its a kind of a power thing, maybe they want you to know that they are in charge.

I always present the reasonable minimum number of documents, then when they ask for document xx or yy, you produce it and they then ask you to then photocopy it.

However despite rationing papers in this way, they will sometimes still manage on some years to come up with some document one hasn't ever brought before.

Look on it as a game of chess, the important thing is to win (get the extension).

it's all part of life in Asia, don't get disillusioned by it and don't take it personally.

They even phoned me to produce my Decree Nisi from my UK divorce years back w00t.gif . I said why, I could not marry in LOS without showing all that stuff years ago.........blink.png Why the problem. Actually I could not find it so a bit in limbo. More to the story but..............

Proof of residence appears on many lists of needed documents if you are not living where you wife's house book is for.

A rental agreement with copies of the owners house book and ID attached is normally what is required to meet the requirement at many offices.

It might be required but it would help if it was on a list of required documents, had original and copies of rental agreement, but wouldn't think I would need a copy of apartment managers id and letter from her confirming we live there, think immigration want us to be mind readers, unnessary waste of my time and morning
