Getting a new uk passport and then thai visa by post in the UK usual BS

I posted a while ago wondering whether to get my new passport in Thailand or back in the UK -

I rang the uk passport office from Thailand as ask for an appointment but because I was in Thailand I couldn't make one I had to ring a different number, anyway I rang back and said oh yes im in the UK and they gave me an appointment straight away - it was stupid beyond belief, so immediately I was thinking this is going to be a disaster. Anyway to cut a long story short - it was fine, easy in fact, a very pleasant day was spent in Liverpool - even though it cost £128 plus transport and photos.

Then the Thai visa part. Now they only do postal visa applications from London - so you have to make sure you use the correct form from their website, and now they ONLY accept postal orders. ( I used to like dealing with the ladies in Liverpool too!!)

So I armed myself with 2copies of the application form, the instruction form and a list of docs and flew home. Happily in receipt of a new passport my employers were able to email me the letters and forms I needed with the new passport number in and off I went to the post office. £72.50 later the visa app was on its way - £50 for a non imm any visa + £10 to send the passport back PLUS £6.50 to write a flippin postal order for £60 oh and £6 to send it special or whatever it is!!! I made a note on the form to say please don't send it back if anything is wrong just ring me ( I cant afford to send it twice - time or money wise)

So I get the first answer phone message yesterday- completely garbled cant even understand half of it but heard qualification documents. Fortunately for me I had a light bulb moment when packing and thought I might just stick those in - just in case. So I scanned those in and emailed them, this morning I have received another request this time for a CRB check less than 6months old!!!! - which I definitely don't have.

The thing that is infuriating me most is the fact that no-where on the website or on the downloadable application form does it mention either of these two additional documents, even my Thai lady in the office at work didn't know about these things additional things. So how are we supposed to know and how are we supposed to get a working visa?

Im now waiting to hear back from them as fortunately for me again I had an electronic copy of an old crb check and im hoping that will do - but not sure what im going to do if its not accepted - what visa will I try to come back on???? Bugger.
