1 Year Visa Extension Based On Dependent

Featured Replies

I am currently on a Non Immigrant O' Visa single entry based on dependent Thai son (not married) and wondered if anyone could supply any info on obtaining 1 Year Visa Extension Based On Dependent ? Required Documents Funds etc?

I did a search on TV but only found some older posts, wondered if anyone has recently applied for 1 Year Visa Extension Based On Dependent.

Many Thanks

Before you can apply for a one year extension based upon being the parent of a Thai you will first need to be the legal father of your child by way of legitimization, See How To Gain Parental Rights As A Father

After that you will need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only or have proof of 40k baht income.

You can get a 60 day extension to visit your child without the legitimization being done to give your more time if needed.

UbonJoe (or any TV member),

I have just received 60 day extension based on Thai child for my Non-O (single) as I am in process of legitimizing child through courts. If this process takes longer than expected can I still get another 60 day extension (or 90 extension if I can prove court process) on the same visa? If so would I have to prove financial (400k in bank) and if so how long would this have to be in bank? I understand that this is needed for 1 year extension but am unsure if this is needed for 2nd (60 day) extension?

Many Thanks

You can only get one 60 day extension per entry.

I am not sure you would be able to get an extension for a petition to the court for legitimization.

Clause 2.26 of immigration order 327/2557.

2.26 In the case of litigation or court proceedings:
Each permission shall be granted for no more than 90 days.
(1) There must be evidence confirming that the applicant is involved in a litigation or court proceedings as accuser, injured person, accused, plaintiff, defendant, or witness.
(2) The applicant does not behave in such a way that indicating his intention to stay longer.

Thanks Joe. So hopefully if I receive the legitimization paper, would I be able to then extend for a year on this visa or basically just have to go out and get new Non-O?

On a related note, is there a limit to the number of SINGLE re-entry permits on one Visa?

As always, very much appreciated!

You could do the one year extension with the non-o visa entry you have now.

There is no limit on re-entry permits you can get.
