New CEDAW member Saisuree Chutikul will promote equality for women

Women’s rights advocate Saisuree Chutikul (สายสุรี จุติกุล) calls for amendments to family-related laws to ensure equality for women and protect them from abuses.

Mrs. Saisuree has just been selected as member of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

Mrs. Saisuree said that as a CEDAW member, she will work towards promoting equality between men and women and , preventing violence against women and human trade, particularly girls.

Mrs. Saisuree’s term at CEDAW begins on January 1, 2007 and ends in 2010.
