From Kansas where is the nearest Thai consulate where I could obtain a tourist visa? Do they have 90 days or is 60 the longest?

A single entry tourist visa will give you 60 days on entry. It can then be extended for 30 days at immigration for 1900 baht. I would contact one of the honoray consulates. How far are you from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma there is an honorary consulate there? Or perhaps Denver.

You can do a mail in application to the official consulate in Chicago.
