Visa Visa Visa

Featured Replies

My friend is confused so am I.....my friend used to visit thailand with a 30 days visa-on arrival...after 30 days he flies back to his country....after 3 or 4 weeks he

visits thailand again on a visa-on arrival 30 days.

This is his routine and been doing it for years...He flies in and out through Bangkok or Chiangmai airports as international flights..no border crossings.

So is he affected by the new visa rules , would he be refused entry at immigration at the airport with so many VOA stamps.....thanks ..

At the moment no-one is really sure, but what seems to be the trend is that only people are targetted who do a visa run and come back to Thailand on the same day.

So it seems that your friend is oke, but also is a bit early to tell yet.

I was questioned as to the amount of exempt stamps I had in my passport - my passport was passed to a supervisor and after some discussion I offered a copy of my outward bound flight ( 18 days later.) At that point I was immediately stamped in.

So your friend should ensure he has a copy of his return ticket with him, and for safety's sake, 20,000 baht cash and possibly a hotel booking.

The brutal fact of the matter is that no-one currently knows what that attitude to your friends travel pattern will be. There's plenty of people that would hazard a hopeful guess - but we're at the point now every morning is bringing news of ever more stringent rules.

ps. It was around June 20th that I was stopped and questioned after returning from Hong Kong.
