I am currently teaching here. I have been married to my Thai wife for three years, and we have a son together. If I was not working; I would have no means of income! If that were the case; is it possible I could stay here with no money coming in?

If you had 400k baht in a Thai bank in your own name for 60 days you could get an extension of stay based upon marriage.

You can get multiple entry non-o visas based upon marriage with no financial proof. You would have to leave every 90 days to get a new entry.

Of course you would still need money to live on.

I'll write a full thread with my questions later, but can the 40,000 monthly income be from my employment in Thailand? I'm considering changing the reason for my extension of stay in October. Does this require an affidavit from my embassy (US) still?

You can use your income from working. You will need to show tax payment receipts and your work permit to prove your income. What you need to prove your income and possibly some additional documents will depend upon the office where you apply.

Is a Thai Bank Statement showing incoming funds from overseas of more than 40,000 a month suffcient to qualify for the yearly extension based on Marriage or do I need something else.

And since this money comes in from overseas do I have to pay tax on that in order to use it for the qualification.

If you have income from outside the country you would need an income letter from your home country embassy or consulate to prove your income.

No need for proof of paying taxes is needed unless you are working here.

I get an extension on my marriage with proof of income from my home country by means of an affidavit from the embassy and a lot of other documents like marriage certificate, birth certificate children, pictures in front of the home and inside of the family, the usual copies of the passport- arrival card and visa and I also need a Thai citizen (not related to my wife) as a witness saying we are living here together on the provided address and although it stays the same every year I need to provide it every time again.

Yes it is possible. Apply for the marrige non O visa . Only have to be able to deposit 400.000 THB in a bankaccount two months before applying the first time... GL

oh yeah. when you read the rules it states 3 months but 2 is enough

The rules say 2 months for every extension based upon marriage. See 2.18 for police order 777/2551.

Since you are already working and married, the road to citizenship is also open for you. I'd check the PR (Permanent Residency) and citizenship routes now when it's still possible.

EDIT 1: The PR process thread: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/74654-cameratas-guide-to-the-permanent-residence-process/

I'll try to find a thread on citizenship..I know it's here.

EDIT 2: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/121353-story-of-my-thai-citizenship-application/ I think it was this one.

Today I'll look around for the point tables Thais have. You need to get enough points to lodge in an application. They're buried somewhere in those threads.
