Upon what basis do you plan on getting the non-o visa?

Why are you flying to Udon Thani.. There is is a closer airport than that if flying from Bangkok. Check for flights to Mukdahan on Air Asia or Nok that are fly/ride via Nakhon Phanom.

If from CM I can understand. Then you will need to get a bus from Udon to Mukdahan.

If getting the non-o based upon marriage you will only need your marriage certificate (plus a copy), signed and dated copy of your wife's house book and ID card.

I only have a stamp from Malaysia, in which I have got 3 times already. Can I go from an ordinary 30 day visa stamp to a non o just like that ?

I have not got work and not got 400.000bht in the bank .

Thank you Kindly.

You can get the non-o visa after an exempt entry without a problem. Nor should you have any problems when you do your trips to get your new entries.

If you are married to a Thai you could also get a 60 day extension of stay to visit your wife if you need more time to prepare for your trip to get the visa.

Lao Airllines has a daily direct flight from Bangkok to Savannakhet, leaves at 12:40, takes 1 hour 30 and costs about 5,500 baht - you can only book directly from Lao airlines, not Expedia.com etc.

The taxis want 200 baht for the 5 minute ride to the town. I couldn't be bothered arguing though I did tell him that I was only giving him 100 for the fare and another 100 for the tip 'cos I am such a great guy - at least he laughed at the joke.
