Any recent problems obtaining non-b from KL?

Hi all,

Towards the end of August I need to leave the country to get a non-b visa for a job I'm due to start soon. I was hoping to go to KL as its a lot cheaper for me to fly there. My boss tells me that if I go to KL I may encounter problems obtaining visa and its best to go to Penang.(I'm located in Phuket) As this is my first non-b I was hoping someone could tell me of any recent experience getting a non-b in KL? With the recent visa crackdowns I'm worried if I were to be denied non-b I will have no way of getting back into Thailand as I already have a passport full of stamps...

Kl has been reported as being very picky for any visa now. There is also no consistency in their requirements.

I suggest you do Penang instead.
