craigt3365
But Cafe Des Amis has the best value for money if you want to eat a real gourmet dinner. Best western food I ever had in Thailand. I'm not going there for romance. Agreed. But I think the ambiance is very nice. What a beautiful setting for a restaurant. And fantastic value for your money.
ThaiBob
Funny how experiences differ. Not that long ago one of the biggest complaints we had about Cafe Des Amis was the dim insufficient lighting. The dimmers were so low we had to use lights from our smartphones to read the menu. Complained to the owner and he obviously listened as we have had no problems with the lighting recently. Yes, the seating can be a little tight (cozy) but the food and service certainly makes up for these perceived shortcomings. There is absolutely nothing cozy about it at all, unless you think being able to listen to the people next to you word for word 'cozy' As for the lighting, its gone full circle then, it's like a lighthouse in there now. The place has zero ambience. Each to his own, I suggest you don't dine at Au Bon Coin(tight seating) or Mata Hari (even brighter, better lighting) either. It would depend on the occassion wouldn't it. If I wanted to go out for a romantic type of evening then know I won't, but if not I'm not fussed. Cafe De Amis market there place as a romantic restaurant with ambiance but it's nothing like that. Agreed. They could dim the lights AND put candles on the table then we would both be happier. ThaiBob
Moonlight Pattaya is actually in Jomtien but this is a serious restaurant that has limited seating and takes a lot of effort in their ingredients, settings, menu and cooking. http://www.moonlightpattaya.com/restaurant/ Good luck, I have never seen them open this low season.I retract that. Friends dined there a few nights ago and had a wonderful meal. Nice ambiance, specialty items, thai food too. Pricey. https://www.facebook.com/pattayarestaurantmoonlight

WaywardWind
There is a decent Thai restaurant, I think it is called Aroy Mak, right next door to the Immigration office on Jomtien Soi 5. We eat there every 90 days (heh) and have always been satisfied.
