Microsoft word 2003

Featured Replies

My wife needs this to prepare stuff for school - Thai language of course.

I slowly coming to the conclusion that this is somehow a source of Adware/Malware as I periodically have to do a clean up. I don't want to upgrade as her computer is an old one; I suspect that the Words program is pirated. Is it possible that this is the source?

Do you think she could adjust to Openoffice in Thai, anybody had experience with that?

Your MS 2003 is not the source of Adware/Malware. I'd reckon to install the 2007 version on it. TRy AVG 2014 and Super Anty Spyware.

Then download Your Unin Staller pro and get rid of a lot of junk.

I could free 3 GB on a machine with this program

Any pirate software in Thailand has a good chance of being riddled with malware.

But yes, you could try LibreOffice, unless she's using heavily formatted documents or rarely used features, she'll be fine.

Try for a Thai version of OpenOffice

I have 2003 installed in my pc got it from (unknown source) but it good, and i like it, if you get documents from word etc from a latter edition then you can upgade to a compatible mode for them easily.

As for the AVG hmm well i got the business internet security edition.biggrin.png

Highly advise she try Kingsoft software as it is free and in my use has been much better than either OpenOffice or LibreOffice for display of Word documents. She can save any document in Word 2003 format with this program.

Edit: Not sure if program is available in Thai or not as have installed in English - but know it supports Thai text.

Thanks, long time since I googled Microsoft alternative. I will give it a go. I guess the icons are more or less the same.

I am no expert on Word but this is the only alternative that seems to properly format immigration downloads and have recently tried both the other two popular options. Have this Kingsoft Office installed now and seems to open and allow change/savings of all documents that I previously had to use Microsoft Office for. And actually seems to be faster doing so.

And in Thailand that is a pretty strong reason for going with it.

be aware office 2003 is officially end-of-lifed by Microsoft, i.e. it's no longer getting new patches and fixes. So even if your source is not corrupted with malware, all it would take is a malicious document file from elsewhere that you open, to mess things up.
