Lite Beer
Police in Samui monitor the position of business signboardsSAMUI: -- Today the Samui Times has had reports that police and army personnel have been asking business owners to move outdoor signage away from the road and pavements in both Bangrak and Bophut. Many businesses have signs and A boards advertising their services that protrude illegally onto highways and byways, a situation it seems will no longer be tolerated on the island. The police are also asking to see business permits during the crackdown that was active in both villages this afternoon --Samui Times 2014-07-

SamuiRes
Perhaps they could ask the Tessaban to move the lampposts from the centre of the footpaths as well. But then why bother as they don't work anyway!
Popular Post Higgins
In complete seriousness - I really hope they leave those with the poor grammar intact. They are one of the nice things about this place
Popular Post Traveling Sailor
Well, I guess something is better than nothing. However, of all the things that need fixing on Samui, I am surprised that they started with signs that stick out into the street. Getting the police to do their job would have been a nice place to start. I cannot get the image out of my head of the young boy I saw, laying dead at the side of the road a couple of days ago. There was a trail of blood emanating from his head, where it hit the pavement when he fell off his motorbike. No helmet and too young to have a license. Another needless death that could have been prevented by the police enforcing traffic laws EVERY DAY.
Tocher
A huge digital billboard was recently installed on the southern corner of Chaweng Lake, it alternatley illuminates the corner as if it were a spotlight and then plunges the corner in to almost total darkness. Not dangerous at all. The information displayed on the board is all in Thai but from what I can decipher it appears, in part, to advertise some hospital services. Creating their own customer base?
