I am an Australian and UK citizen. I been living in Thailand for the past 10 years, married to a Thai having an O class visa based on marriage using my Australian passport. Recently I went to renew my Australian passport at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok as it was about to expire. My application was refused as I was told I have some legal issues outside Australia that effects my passport application which I had no knowledge that it will affect me renewing my passport. This legal matter will take a lot of time and money to resolve which I don’t have the resources to take of it at this moment.

I was able to leave Thailand via border and fly back using my UK passport. The problem is on my Thai marriage certificate it says that my Thai wife married an Australian national, not a UK national and also my UK passport has my middle name in it as my Australian passport does not. I was told by several visa agents that I used in the past about my problem and they said there’s not much they can do and suggested that I go to the marriage registration office as I was told I will have to start the marriage process all over again which I want to avoid. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure immigration or a embassy would pay that much attention to the marriage certificate. I think they just look at names.

Having your Australian passport with you should be enough to resolve any questions.

They cannot change the marriage certificate but may be able to change the info on the Kor Ror 2 marriage registry. The Kor Ror 2 is almost as good a proof of marriage as the marriage certificate.

I agree with Ubonjoe. If the problem persists you can go the Kor Ror 2 way. I managed to change my name back from "Master" to my proper christian name by means of the Kor Ror 2.!

Although I really would not have minded, being called "Master", by one and all.

It's just that the wife insisted.
