Hi,

I have a Non-O visa based on marriage with a thai. It was 3 month + 12 month extension. I took this via agency at the time.
It's gonna finish in 4 months so i'm looking for a next extension and wondering if i'm able to do this by myself. 400k savings are not a problem. Should i just pay a visit to immigration or is there somewhere how-to instructions for this?

All the help appreciated greatly.

Easy to do yourself. Even with an agent, you would still need to collect all the paperwork yourself.

30 days before your extension ends you can apply for a new 1 year extension for 1,900 baht and all required documents. The documents required will be the same as you provided for the original extension of stay.

Your wife needs to accompany you to immigration.

Sorry pekkapieru, I can't offer you any help to your question, but I do have a counter-question for you.

You were given 3 months (consideration) then an extension of another 12 months? I thought it was 9 months to make the 3 months up to a year.

Question for all TV - When making a 2nd yearly extension, is it exactly the same as the 1st? Easier? Or dependent on the immigration officer on the day?

3 months for the visa entry plus 12 months for the extension.

It's the same procedure every year.

Thank you. As I already have a non 0 ED visa, will I still be given 3 months, then an extension of 12 months?

And a personal trip to Immigration (which the application form TM7 makes clear is required in any event) should provide you with the necessary reassurance that the extension of stay stamped in your passport was genuine and not "arranged" by the agent through a mate of theirs who was an expert in forgery!

A Rough Guide.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM)

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.

OR.

If income from outside Thailand: Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.

If Income from Thailand: Statements showing Income Tax receipts.

Marriage Certificate. (Kor Ror 3)

Marriage Registry entry. (Kor Ror 2)

Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.

Your Passport.

Copies of everything.

Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.

A map showing the way to your house.

Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.

Take your Wife to be interviewed.

One or two witnesses may be required.

You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.

Go back in a month and get the remainder.

If immigrations gives you the extension, it will be added onto whatever is remaining on your current permission to stay. The visa is not what is relevant for calculating the period of time you'll end up with on the extension and the time they take to consider you application does not add or subtract time from your 12 month extension.

When you entered the country, immigrations put a stamp in your passport that showed when your permission to stay would end. If you get an extension of stay based on marriage, the twelve months will start when your permission to stay ends.

ok, Thanks, but is that including or excluding the 30 days consideration period?

Apologies, I just read it again...... The visa is not what is relevant for calculating the period of time you'll end up with on the extension and the time they take to consider you application does not add or subtract time from your 12 month extension. opps!
