Eneukman
Hope the motorcyclist is OK. I'm ultra cautious when turning right in a car off Sukhumvit onto any of the roads off to the right as there are nearly always 3 lanes of traffic trying to get into 2 lanes! However "fatal" and "condition unknown" are somewhat contradictory! Alan

monkeycountry
Dunno why they always "hunt" the hit and run guys. They usually turn themselves in once the yabaa and alcohol is out of their system.
Popular Post spidermike007
Why is it, that it is so rare for someone responsible for an accident like this, to stop and claim responsibility? Is there something about Thai society, that compels these clowns to always want to run away? A man does not run away. A man stops, claims responsibility, offers whatever assistance he can, and owns his actions. Man up. Stop being such a wimp, and man up. You hear of so many of these instances, of hit and run. It is very unbecoming of a man to commit an act like this. This is simply not something Bond would do. One of the issues at stake here, I believe, is the lack of penalties for hit and run. In my country, hit and run is a very serious offense, and usually results in prison time. Here, it is more like an additional 1000 baht fine, and a slap on the wrist. Why is that? Why is the judiciary so weak here? What is up with that?
bander
Happens every day in LOS, why even bother to write about news like this, driver get caught in a couple of days, slap on the wrist, 500 bath fine, community service for some months, then back to work as a truck driver again. News stories serve multiple purposes. Warning and educating the public is one aspect. As for predicting what will happen to the driver(s), I find it best not to speculate since I don't follow-up on all accidents or know-all-see-all. Emster23
That sewage truck driver is gonna be in even deeper doodoo than usual. RIP poor lady. All the usual reasons: poor/no traffic law enforcement, lack of license and/or license too easy to get, lack of training and common sense, mai pen rai attitude "didn't happen to me so why should I care?"..... lucjoker
the rest of the article is even more strange! Rorri
I'm confused, did she die or not? The title says "fatal" but the story says her condition "unknown."

Exactly. Where are they going to run to ? They are Thai. The guv. knows who they are. When there is no where to run, no where to hide, turn thineself in and get on with it.
