Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've heard people mention this visa, but I cannot seem to find any of the posts for it.

For the last 2 years, I've done the yearly marriage visa where I had 400,000b in the bank.

Now, I will be leaving in March, so I would like to skip this process this year.

I'm aware of another visa that will allow me to stay for 60 or 90 days(don't remember which) based on being married and having a child here. And, if I remember correctly, it can be done multiple times. This I would need to do since It will go from October to March.

If someone knows the process, please let me know.

take care,

lee

There is no marriage visa.

There are non-o visas based upon marriage that can be a single entry or multiple entry that give a 90 day entry.

It seems you have an extension of stay based upon marriage you got from immigration.

You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit you wife instead of getting the one year extension. After that you would have to go out for a visa. You could get a single entry non-o that would give you a 90 day entry.

Thanks. So, to make sure I understand: When my current non-o expires, I can apply for a 60 day extension? WOuld that be in Thailand or outside Thailand?

Instead of starting a new topic i'll piggy back on this one.

I am back on Aug 19th (to Thailand) I want to get married before we go to Scotland on aug 26th. Can i do it in that time? Do i need to book a time at the consulate. One visa guy has told me he can do it in 4 days for 15,000 baht.

If i do get married in time in Thailand can i get my relivent type O one year visa in Glasgow?

You should easily be able to get married within a week doing it yourself.

It appears you will not need an appointment for the affirmation of permit to marry at the UK embassy See: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/information-for-british-nationals-intending-to-marry-in-thailand

After getting the affirmation it should not take long to get the translation and certification done by the Ministry of Foreign affairs. The translation service can get the certification done for you.to save you a couple of trips to the MFA.

After you get it all done it should take but couple of hours at the most to register your marriage at an Amphoe.

You should not have a problem getting a multiple entry non-o visa from the consulate in Glasgow. It will take a few days because it will have to be approved by the embassy in London..

If you have been extending one year at immigration using 400k in bank account you do exactly the same process for the 60 day extension but will not need the 400k in bank. But both you and wife will have to appear with proof of marriage and normal documents/copies.

If you actually have a multi entry O visa issues from a Consulate you are aware any entry prior to expiration gets a new 90 day stay so if expires tomorrow you can exit/return today for a new 90 day stay.

Any idea how far in advance this needs to be done? Usually, they have said 4 weeks, but it was done in 2.

Thank Joe, i owe you a pint

I would go early in last week - last day is possible but best to do early in case of any paperwork missing or one of you feeling sick. Believe the 60 days is issued during visit rather than the normal marriage extension under review wait.

If you have the necessary docs for any previous marriage and do it yourself should be ok. I did it all myself. When I did it you had to hand in the affirmation at the Embassy and get it back the next day, I think in the afternoon. I picked it up and had it translated in a couple of hours.

The following morning I went to the MFA and you were able to get it back the same day. I went to the desk late morning and the guy in front of me had opted for that and was told to come back at 4pm. I had thought about it but suddenly decided to come back a couple of days later.

We were quite a long time at the Amphur, about 4 hours. They were not used to foreigners and the girl was constantly interrupted.

Good Luck and don't forget to get the MC translated before you leave Thailand. If you have any query at all, say at immigration, the Thai version will not mean a lot.

PS. If you want a high speed translation, there is an office,MCT, on the first floor at Trendy does an express service. Go up the escalator and go to the left. About 80 yards on the RH side.

Did my electricity bill in 45 minutes, but it cost 700 baht.

Thank you. I have never been married before so no problems on that front.

In all honesty, given the timescale i might not get it done in time before i go to the uk. When i am in the UK i will be getting my second UK passport. I will then get a Multi entry from Glasgow consulate in a brand new passport. Next time i am back in Thailand which will be October i will get married then go from there.

Thanks to all that have helped :)

How exactly do you expect to get a multi entry visa if you are not married? Or have you changed from talking O visa to tourist visa two entry?
