i keep getting sms from true in thai

does anyone know for sure what happens if i continue to ignore this

my experience with true is change and do nothing or your asking for (more) trouble

Posted

Go to any true office and they will replace your SIM card for free with your existing number. As of sept.1 your Internet will stop functioning as, they are changing the frequency band on which it operates. But that date has changed several times, it is fluid.

simm for phone, no internet

again i prefer to change nothing

what happens if i do nothing?

You have no choice. Change the SIM at any True shop. It's free and you keep your credit and number.

I also kept getting True messages in Thai but finally got one in English saying I was automatically being changed to True H. That happened a few weeks ago. So far no difference. I've gone into the True shop at Kad Suan Kaew in Chiang Mai two times already to get my messages changed to English, and both times they said it was accomplished, and both times they were wrong. I'm still getting all my True spam, about 2 texts a day, in Thai.

yep, all the sms about the change are in thai

someone told me it might be possible to simply call a number and have the upgrade done

and also get a bonus top up

my phone already says 'true move H' but the change is not complete?

if anyone has the sms in thai and can translate word for word in decent English, PLEASE!

What is the big problem with just going to a True shop and having them sort it all out for free?

That's what I do and that's what they are there for.

1-last time i replaced my simm card, the gal nearly deleted all my contacts

2-i noticed in the past whenever i asked for a service or changed anything at all they manged to fub up my existing service somehow

3-i have had really bad luck with them, probably should switch my number to another carrier but ...

never mind:

IVR
Interactive voice response (IVR) is a technology that allows a computer to interact with humans through the use of voice and DTMF tones input via keypad.
DTMF? USSD?
Posted

DTMF - Dual Tone Multi Frequency, they are the audible tones you hear when pressing the number, *, and # keys during an active call.

USSD - Unstructured Supplementary Service Data is a protocol used by GSM cellular telephones to communicate with the service provider's computers

(forgoing the need to talk to a customer service person). USSD codes are usually formatted as *nnn or *nnn# or *nnn*nn# (where 'n' is a number) it is dialed in place of a phone number and interpreted by the GSM carrier computer as a request for information, or to set/enable/disable a service option. A 'response' appears, similar to an SMS text, except the USSD message is never saved by the phone, though a follow-up SMS text may be sent by the service to confirm a USSD code use purchase or service setting.

since my phone is not smart, i might risk it and do nothing

one of two things will probably happen

there will be no phone service and true shops will be swamped

or probably absolutely no noticeable change on my end

again my phone already displays the true move h network

i think there may be a number to call 'complete' it without going to the shop

i will get a thai to translate the sms

i could also buy a new simm with another network

do ais or detac have one baht a minute local calling or better?

anyone ever moved their number to a different carrier

the options are endless

anyone have ais and dtac cust service numbers

8 digit number or a free four digit one

true charges 3 baht each cust ser call to. i think 1331,, no biggy but shows you how much they care for the customer

thanks all

am i the only one still using the old frequency?

how many people are?

just got off the phone with true cust service

they are telling me i need to buy a new phone now, that supports the newer frequencies

or change networks HA! like that will solve anything

but FIRST even if i want to change networks, i STILL have to go to the true move shop first

Has anyone changed carriers in Thailand keeping the old phone number?

Details please?

i still prefer to do nothing

as i actually tried their suggestion and dialed the number to upgrade only to have more problems

i also got a missed call and talked with 1200, NTBCC or something like that, about the old frequency

interesting

the clock is ticking and time is running out,

sept 15 and i may loose my simple phone signal!!!

my lifeline!!!

(if i do nothing)

i could buy a new simm with another carrier but it does not address the same issue

or will it?

though i still want to keep and use my old number

so not really unless i can be sure to get calls on that old line

SIGH

A month ago I suggested you go to the True shop. This is still the simplest and best option.

You can buy a suitable new phone for under 1000B or you could even transfer your number to another provider.

But you should have done it all months ago. For the life of me I cant imagine why you are dragging it out.

You know You can "save" all your contacts to the "Phone" from the SIM card don't you? Then you'll have them in both locations. Just a suggestion.

Oh and now they want me to get another phone!

Mine does NOT cover the new frequency.

Ends up they WERE giving away new phones,

NEWS to me!!!!!!

geeeeeees

they might yet again extend the signal frequency

but i think True wants to remove these users, the dinosaurs

are other carriers in the same boat?

AIS has been operating on 1800 Mhz, and 900 Mhz, both of these bands will be up for auction in 2015 by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

AIS has been transitioning users to it's AWN subsidiary operating 3G Services on 2100Mhz, even though they are confident of winning back licenses for 1800 and 900 band operation.

It will be interesting to see what happens as AIS has been operating 900 under a BTO (build-transfer-operate) contract with TOT Corporation Plc (TOT) which will end in 2015. According to their Investor pages, in terms of the original agreement, AIS is required to build and raise capital for investment in a cellular network and transfer the network ownership to TOT in 2015. Who wants old, out-dated cellular equipment anyway.

So, yes, other carriers are in a similar boat.

Had to go to two TRUE shops and they STILL could not transfer my data from old simm to new simm.

The first shop was All out of old big SIMM's which doesn't make sense, once you see the new big simm.

The 2nd shop could not copy data.

Still i have to go back to complete everything.

One lady told me the old simm would last only 24 hours and the another lady said i could not transfer for my data for 3 days!!!

The level of incompetence is magnifique!!!

I could write a book! and go on and on and on

If you don't laugh you'll end up crying.

mini rant over for now

wish me luck

i need it
