Former Thai Comedian gets 22 months in prison for dealing with crystal meth

BANGKOK, 31 July 2014 (NNT) - The Criminal Court has sentenced a former Thai comedian to 1 year and 10 months in jail on drug-related charges. He was also fined 150,000 baht as part of the punishment.

Kanokpong Anurakjanyong, widely known as “Mcca Chuanchuen”, was charged with possession and distribution of crystallized methamphetamine or “ya-ice” by the Criminal Court.

On March 22nd, 2014, Mcca was apprehended by the police during a sting operation to lure him out of his hiding place.

According to the Narcotics Act B.E. 2522, Mcca was originally subjected to face a 3 year and 9 month prison term as well as a fine up to 300,000 baht.

However, since he provided useful testimony to the case, his sentence was reduced by one-third and his fine reduced to half.

only 22 months for dealing ice.others get 30,50, 99 years,

Indeed, especially given that Ice is a higher schedule than Cocaine and another 'former' celebrity recently got 15 years for posessing 0.2 grams of the latter (treated bizarrely as a supplier)..

Probably both well connected, wonder if one of them might have upset a few connections.

"However, since he provided useful testimony to the case, his sentence was reduced by one-third and his fine reduced to half."

Does that mean he grassed up his mates?

On another note, is the shirt he's wearing in the coconuts story the one he wore to court? Might want to ditch it before he goes to gaol.

Everybody keeps saying, and I gotta scream aloud myself: This guy got off seriously light for dealing.

Thought 1.326 grams is seriously seriously minimal... I'll gamble he had more on him, and negotiated his way down to the police re-weighing what he was carrying, thus discovering that in fact it only weighed 1.326 grams...

Astonishing sentence. If he was actually caught and proven guilty of dealing...
