Do they check visas leaving Don Meuang for domestic flights?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm going up to Bangkok to collect my new passport.  Unfortunately there was a delay from my government in sending the passport so it's left me with about 50 days overstay.

I'm planning on flying internally to and from Don Meuang and was wondering if this is going to be a problem.

Planning on getting myself an education visa afterwards.

Anyone know if they check  visa dates on domestic flights?

Thanks

Dan

You don't necessarily even need to produce a passport when you fly domestically, just photo ID, a Thai DL has worked for me.

If I have ever used a passport as ID, they have only ever had a quick look at my ID page.

You will not be passing through Thai Immigration, because it's a domestic flight.

Your passport will only be checked by airline staff, as a form of identification that matches the air ticket.

You don't need a passport for a domestic fly...
... if you have another official ID, such as a Thai Driving License,

In any other case I doubt they will accept you without a valid passport...

BTW everyone recommend to get a new passport when its validity fall under 6 months,
and it's precisely to avoid this kind of problem...

And getting an Overstay stamp just before getting an ED Visa is another bad idea... IMHO

Show your passport, no prob.

They only check your name to match the (e) ticket.

Independently you have the risk of being stopped by police/immi at any time and your overstay detected.

Only a valid passport was checked in my case last week, they did not check any visa.
