Can overstay visa in the past get banned ? Help me

Featured Replies

Hello , I want to ask a question . My friend study in here for 3 years already , from 2011 until now . He used to overstay in the past 2 times on 2012 and 2013 , sum of time is around 90 days . In the 2 time he has to come to the Cambodia border to get the temporary visitor visa and come back to his country to renew a new one . He sometime have to answer the officers in the airport when he fly from home to Thailand and the officers seem don't like his passport. And with the new rule of Thai government he is very worry to get banned from here . But I want to ask you if everything is just in the past so can he get banned ? Thank you so much and sorry for my poor English sad.png

What happened in the past cannot lead to a ban from the country. The new rules are not retroactive.

No, he will not be banned because of overstay. he may be refused entry though if they don't trust his visa/entry stories.

No, regulations are not retroactive.

That being said, he should get a new passport. That helps because normally office do not check the full database they just look at passport.

Guess "your Friend" studied for 3 years, without an ED-Visa, which is fine, but would have been much easier and impossible to have overstay with, just a immigration report every 90 days.

Slightly off topic, but why, whenever there is a question about a visa or a bad marriage, it's always " A Friend" ??? Just wondering

But to answer your question, no they cannot bring up a past overstay for a reason to not allow entry.

Maybe his friend cannot speak english, or is that too obvious?

Why would anyone care what other people think on an anonymous forum?

Most expats living in Thailand are not memebers of TV so it seems reasonable that someone may ask questions on someone else's behalf.
