1 year extension based on Marriage and WP

Featured Replies

I am getting some conflicting info and would like clarification.
I have a 1 year visa (already for 3 years) and need to renew again later this year.
My paperwork is based on our marriage, proof of income is my WP and 400.000 thb bank statement.
Nothing changes apart from the fact that we are moving to a neighbouring province, which means my wifes address will change.
My WP and company however stay and I will commute, it is less then an hour.

My question is, can I reside with my wife in a different (neighboring province) then where my WP and work is.

It should not be an issue but Thailand has some strange laws for us farang.

Thank you.

You can work in one province and live in another.

You may have to do your extension at a different immigration office it the province where you move to has its own office.

If you can show 400,000 THB in the bank for the required period before your extension application, then there is no need to show a WP.

In my area the extension condition in my passport is written up in Thai as 'Married and Working', but for this you need to show valid WP, last year's PND 91 (with tax paid on >480.000 THB), previous month's PND 1, plus your Company Registration Documents from the Commerce Department.
