Lite Beer
NATIONAL LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLYPornpetch tipped to be NLA presidentBANGKOK: -- It appears certain junta legal adviser Pornpetch Wichitcholchai will become president of the National Legislative Assembly after he emerged as the lone candidate. The NLA will vote on the post today. A group of NLA members yesterday discussed the pending vote and were confident fellow members would vote for Pornpetch. They said they would not propose other candidates. The position of NLA first vice president also appears a lock, with former Senate Speaker Surachai Liengboonlertchai expected to get the nod. Speculation remains, however, over who will get the NLA's second vice presidency. As Surachai is expected to be first vice president, the National Council for Peace and Order wants the second vice presidency to go to a military figure. General Noppadol Intapanya, a former classmate of NCPO chief adviser General Prawit Wongsuwan, is the favourite for the position. Former Uttaradit senator Peerasak Porchit is expected to be his rival, supported by NLA members who are former senators and some government officials. You are all very quiet now the reality of what was going to happen has sunk in. Dont worry we have all gobbed off, about things we know nothing about. We forgive you From all that I have seen, read or heard, then yes, what we have right now is WAY BETTER than the previous self-serving corrupt gang of thieves (PTP). Whether it stays like this, gets better or gets worse remains to be seen, but for right now, it's unquestionably better.
smutcakes
I would of suggested a legal adviser of any repute should of given his client the heads up that a coup is illegal. A group of NLA discussed it, and felt confident the others would go along with it. Nothing like people volunteering for the position and a proper vote being taken. All politicking and favors as per usual.

Are you instigating something by including Prayuth in the list of unsavory characters? Chotthee's choice of names is interesting. Nine names, seven of whom are deceased, a fact of which he may be unaware. Which leaves a choice between General Prayuth and George W. Bush. However, I am sure he's not insinuating that the good General is on the same level as Dubbya?.

h90
Anybody be PM of Thailand is better than Thaksin. Prayuth, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Saddam, Qaddafi, Mr. Kim, Bush, etc included. Inside country, Saddam and Qaddafi weren't bad. The others beside Prayuth were mass murders. Mr. Kim extra bought a complete brewery and transported it to North Korea so his people can have cheap beer. That definitely gives some plus points! richard10365
I really hope that democracy returns to Thailand stronger and better than before only so all the prevalent theories of democracy being expressed here are shattered by the coup being more beneficial to a country than a democratically elected government.
