I wonder if someone could advise whether FAK NGUU (ฟักงู) can be used for snake gourd/snake melon/winter gourd (Benincasa hispida).  It seems to be a direct translation of snake gourd and possibly incorrect.  Someone may have just put those 2 words together.

I realise that there is another word for this vegetable - FAK KHIAO (ฟักเขียว).

Thanks for your help.

My wife says that what you are calling snake gourd (ฟักงู) is called (บวบงู) "buap ngu" by most Thai people.  It is not used in recipes calling for (ฟักเขียว) "fak khiao".  They are different vegetables.

Dear Pla shado,

Your wife is correct.  My mistake.  The snake gourd is BUAP NGU (Trichosanthes anguina),  Thank you for that correction.

Much appreciated.
