August 13, 201411 yr But seriously folks, I can't find dowels at Global, Do home, smaller wood and hardware shops. I've found curtain rod size but I need about 1" diameter max. There's a thread about where to buy in BK but I need somewhere near Khon Kaen. Any ideas?
August 13, 201411 yr use masonry wall plugs - those plastic things that you push into the wall to screw a screw into . Different sizes - different colours.
August 14, 201411 yr If you live in Khom Kaen surely there are local people that will happily make them for you or even still seeing as there isn't much to do why not make them yourself.
August 14, 201411 yr Carpenters make-up their own here, though 1" is pretty chunky. Worth asking around for a local carpenter. Any builder or foreman type will know of one
August 14, 201411 yr Either DoHome, ThaiWatsadu or HomePro have dowel around the 20mm to 35mm size a bit over 1 meter long. I bought some in one of the three last year

August 14, 201411 yr Home Pro have dowels in wood, metal and some kind of vinyl. Look at the section were they have all the Haefele small parts.
August 14, 201411 yr Author Thanks for all the replies. I haven't tried HomePro and TW yet. Global and DH don't have them now, I searched even after being told "we don't have any" as that often means "I don't know". I have found wooden curtain rods but they are too thick.
August 15, 201411 yr I bought some lumber at the local lumber yard yesterday and they had a bunch of 1' dowels, but I live in Nakhon Sawan Province.. I don't know what you intend to use it for, but when I built my house I built walk-in closets and used 1' galvanized pipe for clothes hanger rods.
August 15, 201411 yr If you have to buy one that is bigger and take it to one of those woodworking places and ask them to make it smaller. You could probably go straight to them but with the sample it is easier to explain.
August 15, 201411 yr Over the years I have found that if I do a Google search for a photo of what I want and copy/paste it into MS word below the English word and a Thai translation then print it out it usually works. A picture is worth 10,000 words in somebody elses language. I thing I have found in places like Global House, Home Pro etc is that most of the staff only know about their own products and little about any others.
August 15, 201411 yr Hello All, not in your area OP, but wondering around a 3 block area downtown Korat I've seen dowels in a bin along with threaded rods. in the local supply shops. rice555
