August 14, 201411 yr Hi. In a few months. I need to spend 10 months in thailand. I will not be studying so i need to do this with tourist visas. I also will not be able to return to europe to get a visa in my country so will need to do this using embassies and consulates in the region. I have no previous tourist visas, only an ed visa. What is the best way of doing this? Do double entry visas still get issued? If so could i do it using 2 double entry visas, with extensions 90daysx4? Thanks
August 14, 201411 yr You could at least apply for a double entry toruist visa in Laos, with extensions giving you a total of almost 6 months. I can't predict what the situation will be after those 6 months.
August 14, 201411 yr If you don't mind making a bit longer trip and having to show tickets out 90 days apart for each entry you could get a 3 entry tourist visa in Bali. You could get almost 9 months of total stay from it.
August 14, 201411 yr I honestly think that anyone wanting to stay here for longer than 180 days in any 12 month period will not be able to do it on Tourist Visa are you under 50
August 14, 201411 yr Popular Post I honestly think that anyone wanting to stay here for longer than 180 days in any 12 month period will not be able to do it on Tourist Visa are you under 50 Your beliefs are based on nothing. The new rules do not say anything about a maximum stay of 180 days in a 12 month period.
August 15, 201411 yr I think there is still a lot of confusion and misinformation about the current status of visas. What I usually do (and this is for about 6 months) is get a 2 entry 60 day tourist visa ....coming from USA...and after the 60 days I apply and pay 1900 baht to get an extra 30 days. That's 90 days. Then I travel out of Thailand and start the process over. Those extra 4 months you will have to figure out what to do. I don't even know if my previous methods will work anymore.
August 15, 201411 yr Since few years, I am spending 7-8 months in Thailand and 4-5 months in Europe for work. I applied for a triple entry tourist visa that give me 6 months to which I add the 3 times 1 month extension and I have 9 months in total...without any problems.

But a bit differing from the intention of the topic starter. You do your trips home and organize a triple TR (there?). He wants to organize a virtually continuous stay based upon TR visa from the region (visa run, visa exempt entries or the like. Might work or not. A triple entry TR from the home country is to be recommended. At the end maybe adding one more visa exempt entry with valid return flight booking. Is there anyone who can predict the outcome under the current still confusing information and reports? He might get these questions "what you do in Thailand", "purpose of stay", "where you stay", "where is your money from". At least he should be prepared to answer such questions convincingly. August 15, 201411 yr Get the Double Entry 60-Day visa. Each entry is extendable for an additional 30-days at the local immigration office for 1900Bht. Easy process over all. Then once that visa is done go to Laos or wherever and do it again. But remember that the present rules might change again. This is Thailand after all. However, if you between the two original entries you spend a bit more time out of the country and also spend some extra time once the original visa is finished in another country, you will have an easier time getting a new Single or Double (as you need) visa. Also try and have an outbound flight arranged so that you can show that you did in fact leave Thai for another destination. This will show immigration that you are actually a tourist (as they see it) as you are traveling and not just staying put in Thailand for the entire time based upon your return ticket. The latter is important to have by the way. It is all about being able to show someone that really does not care, but might have been ordered/directed to spot those that are not tourists and therefore like to make sure. So the more documents you can show them (within reason) the better. The phrase " Bury them in paperwork" comes to mind. All of it is really silly really. It is also a pain in the neck for those of us that have been in Thailand for sometime now. But that is the way things are right now. So we just have to play along.
August 15, 201411 yr By the way there are a number of posters that seem to mention Triple Entry Visas....? Where are you getting those from?

Just asking as here in Los Angeles Thai consulate they will not consider issuing one unless you go through the entire Non O or OA visa process (which does away with the idea of a Triple). Maybe in the EU then? Maybe in Penang or Bali?

Maybe in the EU then? Maybe in Penang or Bali?By long standing tradition, all Thai embassy or consulate like to do their own rules. So basically one keeps trying until he finds. A good idea is to check all honorary consulates. Asia not a good choice for certain types of visa including triple entry tourist.
