Trespassing charges will no longer be brought against recipients of land in reform zones

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra promises farmers will no longer face legal action for trespassing now nationwide land surveys have already been completed.

Pol. Lt. Col. Thaksin handed Sor Por Kor (สปก) 4-01 land certificates issued for land in reform zones to occupants yesterday.

The Prime Minister said recipients of the land papers needed not be worried about being sued for alleged encroachment as the government now has a map that clearly designates land reform zones.

He said farmers can use the land documents in signing contract farming with private firms or as collaterals under the asset-to-capital conversion project.

Eligible borrowers, however, must be members of land rent cooperatives set up by the Cooperatives Promotion Department. The Royal Forest Department will issue them rent papers for use as collateral.
