Phuket fly to Kuala Lumpur, stay 1 day and fly back

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am German and my girlfriend is Russian. We already are in Thailand for 2months with Visa on Arrival. After the first month we flyed to Kuala Lumpur and stayed there only one day and the next day we flyed to Krabi Airport. There we had no problem with new visa.

Now we need tomorrow go out of Thailand again. You think we can just stay one day in Kuala Lumpur again and then fly back to Phuket? Or will this be a problem with the new visa rules?

Before this 2 months we never was in Thailand before. We really not work here, just make a long holiday!

greets

That would be your second back-to-back Out/In on visa exempt, it is not a good idea.

You both should get a Tourist visa, for that Penang is a much better choice than KL. Or Savannakhet, Laos for double entry.

While you are in KL you should apply for a tourist visa at the Thai embassy there. That would give you a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days. You apply the morning of one day and get it back the next afternoon.

I can't predict if you will be allowed another visa exempt entry or not.

What happens if they say No? I need buy a fly back on the same day immediately?

We just want stay one more month in Thailand then we go home

Would it make a difference if we stay some more days in Malaysia?

If denied entry you would have to return to KL or if you got the ticket somewhere else.

If you have a ticket out of within 30 days and 10k baht each to show if asked and have stayed out of the country at least a night you should not have a problem.

So you think I can risk it?

Did it already happen often that tourists getting denied when coming via air?

There have be some vague reports of it happening but I suspect it may of been a case of somebody having several entries.

Having the ticket to show will be a big help if asked. I really think you will not have a problem.

Okay then I will just try it... I hope it will be all good!

Oh by the way, Malaysia not care that I again come back for one day?

get a tourist visa and you are safe, why take a chance when it's so easy to pick up a tourist visa..

Most unlikely (although not guaranteed ) you will be able to stay any longer than 7 days. I know of three foreigners who did apply, and were given, a third successive TR 60 in KL, Two in Penang and were given 7 days on arrival in Sadao, and one at Phuket airport. They complained at the Phuket immigration office but were told that the Entry stamp on arrival stated they were living in Thailand on a tourist visa. The 7 days was given for them to arrange for flights out of Thailand.

When in an uncertain situation is better to avoid Sadao and Phuket airport.

Also, OP's gf nationality doesn't help. In my opinion they are taking a risk in trying to return to Thailand without a visa.

To the OP.

The Thai Embassy in KL is reasonably centrally located in the city, a few hundred metres along Jalan Ampang (towards Ampang) from the intersection of Jalan Tun Razak, taxi from KLCC will be about 10 Ringgit (100 baht) or less.

I would take the opportunity to apply for a tourist visa if you are visiting the centre of KL.

There ia a huge choice of hotels (back pack style and upwards) situated around "Changat Bukit Bintang" in the centre of KL, this being about a kliometer or two from KLCC.

What do you have to lose other than the expense of the visa and an additional night or two in KL ?

I not even had a return ticket or a hotel booking, they checked nothing.

Fair play Johnny
