pete66
My son goes to a Thai school in Bangkok and a teacher has been hitting him. Haven't got full details yet, but seems to be just on the legs. Anyway, just wondering if corporal punishment in schools is still legal in Thailand? Its a paid school, not government school, if that makes any difference. thanks for any advice
phosphorescent
It is illegal in Thailand but still widely practiced and wrongfully condoned by many parents. Have a chat with the teacher and if it continues, take it to the next level.
pete66
Unfortunately I'm 700 km away so I can't talk to teacher direct now ... but thanks for the info, appreciated. My son is refusing to go back into school now, he's quite sensitive and scared Thx for reply, was expecting more replies but you never know with questions you ask here. cheers,
Somtamnication
There is another thread here where I uploaded the Thai law, both in Thai and English. Print the bloody thing, show it to the teacher and watch his/her face. I am repeating myself: My wife goes in on the first day of class, shoves the paper in their hands and puts the fear of God in them. We discipline our kids, not them. ravip
Just another thought only - I maybe absolutely wrong... But just find out why the teacher is hitting him. Before punishing the teacher, try to find the cause. You might be lucky, you know. Just my humble opinion...
Scott
If you can't go to the school, perhaps you could give the principal or director a phone call. They do get concerned when parents complain.
