Looking for Woodwork-Artist

I'm going to be visiting Thailand in October-November and am looking for someone who might be able to prepare a gift for me to pick-up. Id like to purchase a Made-in-Thailand wooden speargun for my boyfriend as a gift and need to find someone who can make an alteration to personalize it for me. If you have any recommendations or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

**Note the speargun is a gift and is intended for use in Puerto Rico, not Thailand, therefore I'm not concerned or very interested in fishing regulations in the area. Thanks so much!

also, any ideas on where i could purchase that wooden speargun locally, in Thailand prior to the alterations would also be very helpful!

A wooden speargun? Never seen one made from wood, a longbow perhaps.

There is a street out by Bang sue that is full of woodworking shops and tools

But if they have no idea what it is , then they will end up making a great copy that will not do the job of "fishing"

All wooden spear guns I have seen in use have been broom sticks with a spike on the end.

Does your boyfriend have the skills to use one?

The most artistic wooden spearguns i have seen were made in the republc of Palau. as the construction is very similar to an old fashioned hill tribe hunting rifle, i would get a photo of a carved palaun one and ask around.in the Chiang mai area The mechanics are quite simple.
