After you get your extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon marriage you can get a re-entry permit that would be valid until the extension ends.

No problem to be out the country for 4 months.

You can apply for the re-entry permit when you get the extension stamp. You will not have it until after the 30 day under consideration period after you apply for the extension.

It all seems so complicated hopefully when I'm in Thailand and dealing with the situation first hand it will be simpler then it appears???hopefully 555

Be reassured. the extension is complicated enough with copies and pictures of everything, if not witnesses. Re-entry permit is just about paying and waiting.
