So here I am biting my nails again. My Non-B and work permit expire on the same day 28 August -- next Thursday. As usual, the person responsible for processing the paper work for another year has waited until the last minute and I don't know if everything will come together in time. I am fairly certain HR doesn't know what they are doing so I've relied on the helpful advice from TV and it's kept me out of trouble so far (THANK YOU!). Now, my question is -- can I get any kind of extension at Chaeng Wattana on my Non-B, pending the renewal of my work permit, and if so, what do I need to show them? I don't dare attempt a border run, overstay, or another Tourist Visa.

Thank you for any helpful advice or input.

Immigration should be able to your extension with proof that the work permit extension has been applied for.

You can go to immigration and apply for your extension even with the work permit expiring soon the the two are not linked. You do not have to have a work permit valid for a year to apply for the extension.

This is the way to do it, Immigration will accept the WP 5 renewal application filing receipt (A5 Sized) and copies of your WP along with all the usual papers (better still that you speak nicely to Labour and they should let you take your WP to immigration to make the new 2.1 extension application and then you take it back to them after immigration is sorted).

Here is the list of papers required in my area for a 2.1 extension:

Your employer should not leave it all until the last day, this is a potential recipe for disaster (and super stressful as well).
