New tourism route between Samui and Perhentian

BANGKOK: -- The Narathiwat Tourism Business Association has joined hands with tour business operators in Malaysia to open a new route between Thailand’s Samui Island and Malaysia’s Perhentian Island. The seaport will be at Su-ngai Kolok District. This scheme is expected to draw in more revenues to the local residents in Su-ngai Kolok.

Mr. Abdul Ayi Asae Suemae Abdul-ayi Awae Sue-mae, the chief of the Narathiwat Tourism Business Association, said hotel and restaurant operators in Perhentian Island were invited last month to discuss on the new tourism route for European tourists who take a vacation in Perhentian and Samui. Tourists can take a rest at Su-ngai Kolok District of Narathiwat Province.

Mr. Abdul said many tourists are facing difficulties to travel between Bangkok and Singapore. They have to spend considerable amount of money and time. However, it takes merely two hours to travel between Perhentian and Su-ngai-Kolok, and another five hours to Samui. In addition, accommodations are sufficient as there are many three to five-star hotels, or around 3,600 rooms.
