webfact Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 PHUKET: Fake DSI men held for massage extortionEakkapop ThongtubThe DSI arrested two men masquerading as DSI officers.PHUKET: -- Two men masquerading as DSI officers were arrested on Tuesday (August 26) for extorting B100,000 from the Angel massage parlour in Poonphon, Phuket Town in April.At 1.00pm on Tuesday, Meaung police and Lt Col Korrawat Panprapakon, commissioner of Special Operations DSI, issued a press statement regarding the arrest of two suspects, Kanapat Kongmeang, 42 and Witsanusan Tippayatat, 47.At 10pm on April 24, four suspects went into the massage parlour in Talad Neua to use the services, including sex and made a video of it.The suspects then showed the video to the parlour owner and demanded B100,000 or the video would be posted online. The owner handed over the money as he didn’t want any bad publicity.The owner later made checks into the four men’s claim to be from the DSI and found they were imposters.Lt Col Korrawat of the DSI said, “Please contact the DSI headquarters if anyone claims to be from the DSI and demands money. He won't do anything about this because he'll be admitting to a crime if he does. I wonder if he got in trouble for reporting the fake DSI guys. And lets not forget DSI officers who are corrupt. Seems Thailand needs someone to investigate the investigators. A good result really. There has to be a point where the corruption issue turns the corner. I would think a lot of police etc. are being very careful now. Did they get their money back?
