Fire in Prawes compound injures four

BANGKOK: -- Fire broke out Tuesday night at a house in Bangkok's Prawes district, injuring four people.

Five fire trucks, fire fighters and volunteers spent an hour extinguishing the flames on first floor of threestorey building. A family of four was briefly trapped inside.

Somsuk Surapan, 73, told police that the house affected by the fire was one of three in the same compound. He added he lived in another house and had been alerted by screams of "fire".

He rushed to the building and saw that the third floor where his son and his family lived, was ablaze. He smashed windows trying to get inside but the flames were too strong and the fire was spreading quickly.

He called the police and fire fighters and learned later that his son, daughter in law and their children had already escaped through the second floor.

One of the neighbours said that they called the 191 emergency line but it was always busy.

Ouch! Lessons to not be learned.

That's a really sad status.
