Defamation is the issuance of a statement about another person or business which causes that person to suffer harm. It does not have to be false to be defamatory. Libel is when the defamatory statement is published either in a drawing, painting, cinematography, film, picture or letters made visible by any means, or any other recording instruments, recording picture or letters, or by broadcasting or spreading picture, or by propagation by any other means. Defamation is both a civil and criminal charge in Thailand.

He's got his work cut out for him and needs to negotiate on two fronts.

First; the cannabis charge will be very costly. He's not charged with intent to sell. That's good, however it is still going to be very very expensive.

Second; the I assume now ex- GF, is going to require some serious negotiation. It would help the alleged perpetrator if he has ever been blackmailed himself, as the negotiating skills that he now desperately needs are the same as he would have used if ever previously blackmailed. Those skills will help him a great deal now when dealing with his EX and begging her to drop the charges. This too could prove to be expensive.

I see a new listing for a quick sale for a condo in Pattaya any minute now. It might be a real bargain for somebody.

It says "caught red-handed" but when you read the article it seems to be her word against his.

All the same, here that may be enough, especially with the alleged stash of hashish.

And the reason why the stash of hashich is called 'alleged' is because the label on it read 'ALLEGED HASHISH',

a kind that's apparently very easy to find in Pattaya.

Notice that the guy is on the phone. Is he blackmailing someone into bailing him out ?

My majority would be against this allegation. A lot of guys take pictures of bg or girl they take, this may be no exception. My strong feeling that the girl failed to extract money from this guy thought of accusing him and do a settlement for a handsome amount. But anything can happen.

Move your collection of nudies to Cloud storage and clean pc before you plan to fight with a Thai girl :)

I dont believe this story at all . If the belgium guy is blackmailing his wife for money, then who is she ? Rich and wealthy married to a low scum farang? I don't think so .

Sorry, I read the article and the newspaper lined article and I see nothing that alludes to the Thai Girl being his wife!!! Okay that said, he's a bottom feeder and I hope he gets the full 10 years - EVEN if its not true in this case - Know Why?? Because even if this incident isn't true, there are probably dozens of others that are - he finally got caught - his next stop will be in a cell with a West African buck serving life. Good riddance to bad rubbish as said by my maternal grandmother

Why are most of the sleeze balls who are caught are without their shirts?

Just like the show "cops", i guess it doesn't matter where in the world you go, as the alleged perp will most likely have no shirt or sport a wife beater.

In defense of his dress, if the police bust into every condo occupied by a Farang, they would probably find a guy walking around in his boxers without a shirt, I know I do.

But what idiot keeps weed in a safe? first place cops would look

Unless maybe someone close to you put it there.

Absolute nonsense!

I know this guy and he is a friend of mine.

Blackmail?

How on earth did they cook up this story?

One of the kindest guys thay I know of.

The people slagging him...always two sides to a story.

So you know what he gets up to behind closed doors...?

I lived next door to this guy for 3½ years...need I say more?

What does that prove ? huh.png I don't think you would be the first one in history who may have made a mistake about some aspects of a persons character rolleyes.gif

I agree there is as always too little information to make a good judgement call. The guy who lived next door hasn't really come out and said much about the accused character so far.

What interests me is the officials who were there.

"Pol.Lt.Col.Thanadech Chomchiaochan-inspector of Pattaya police station- and Pol.Capt.Anon Infong-deputy inspector of Children Woman Family Protection And Anti Human Trafficking Centre Of Provincial Police Region 2". These are not your average officials hanging about the place. How come they were there? Yes it is most likely an official set up which involved collaboration by the the alleged blackmailed party. This is so crooked any normal prosecutor would throw it in the rubbish as we should.

Amazing Thailand.

Make a note of this members.

So next time you open a thread, "My g/f, cheated me for loads of money, What shall I do now?" remember that coins have a flip side also.

Put that scam away, he doesn't deserve to be amongst other human beings.

And whats the scam... the report from an angry woman to police that has accused the guy of blackmail...

or

Post like yours that jump to conclusion based on a rag of a paper?

Where did you see that the alleged victim is his wife? It doesn't say that.. it says "girlfriend".

Bad picture !

Is this a news story or a gay porno ?

And who in their right minds tries to black mail a Thai girl for money ? Most of the ones I know claim to be perpetually broke and can barely afford a bowl of noodles (or so they say).

(I joke with them all the time that they should be giving me money so I can buy whiskey, "play snook" and have many mia's, just like their Thai boyfriends.)

Yes your right, just looked at the Photo again, and it does look,as though it's a Gay Porno , not that I have seen one, I'm a good Catholic boy....

Only the men who get turned on by the photo think it's gay porno.

It's hot in Pattaya, or can't you think that far ahead?

That's why we have this wonderful thing called air con- if you have never come across this invention - it keeps you cool.

Who on earth sits around in boxers- you would stick to the plastic furniture.

For not wearing a shirt, he is being called Gay, for taking photos of his ex gf he is called to be blackmailing, to having some weed in his house he is a junkie, my my how the TV police and judges are stooping to a real low, innocent until proven guilty, PS it will soon be happy hour till so you can have a laugh about it...

I don't see any proof here that leads to being caught Red Handed for Black Mail..

If you are going to lock up a man just for taking a nude picture of his girlfriend then you might as well lock up all Western Men. I still remembering saving up for my first Polaroid Instant Camera and it wasn't for taking expensive pictures of Grandma or the Kids.

He's not being called gay for not wearing a shirt it looks like he's rear ending the Thai guy in the pic.

I feel sorry for the guy, in all probabilty its the other way round!!

.

Highly likely she has blackmailed him with the intent to extort money, "pay me this much or i will go to the police"

No proof! , are the naked pictures on the net?? if not there is no charge to answer unless she can produce the blackmail letter . More likely he has an SMS from her asking for money .

OK, thick as a brick for keeping weed in the safe, but not like its meth or some really sinister class A drug.

So the TV guys saying throw away the key and lock him up for 10 years!! who made you the judge, jury and executioners.

I hope he gets a fair investigation, and trial with due process.....i hope the police take a close look at her too

Point is , many couples take pictures, pretty harmless fun mostly . This is one to watch as it maybe a reverse scam for the lady to extract money

He would have loaned her money and asked for it back.

My friend did the same and his ex threatened to go to the police and make a complaint about him.

That is also my take on it ...

I have seen it done before in Thailand as well

Money was asked to be returned and false allegations were made

More common than you think
