Woman Travelling (aboard) Alone

Featured Replies

we all need loves, attentions

but sometimes we just wanna be and enjoy our-self alone, esp when u tripping

foreigner's beauty is always sweet-scented and luring to the curious bees

d'ya have any good ways to avoid interpersonal contacts when u r too lazy to make friends or conversations with the others?

esp. on the beach

easy- just take a music player and headphones. or a book- though that doesn't work as well. otherwise just tell them you are here to get peace and quiet and do they mind if you don't feel like being around anyone.

yeh :D

sometimes small hints are helpless, and i wish it wont have to make a sign 'pls <deleted>.cking leave me alone' next to my mat on the beach

or i really should make a hat/t-shirt 'do not disturb' :o:D

i hate to disappoint someone else tho

and if u have to say it to rufuse their wannamake-friends

which cant help but not a good reply, it makes me feel a bit regret about that

and the peaceful moment's just blew away

I was in Laos and really wanted to be left alone, so I made myself look as big a geek as possible. I am a man and fortunately don't have to endure the unwanted attention of bees as you put it, but for some reason when I travel I do seem to attract a large number of people who leave me wondering how on earth they ever made it to their home airport let alone to Laos. This one day I just wanted to be alone.

I had a polo shirt in my bag that had 'England' written across the front (the rugby world cup was imminent and I needed to wear my colours) so I put that on. I bought a cheap pair of gross specs and popped out the lenses. Half a gallon of gel slicked my hair over a treat and I pulled my shorts up over my belly button. I looked an absolute tool!!!! Then with trusty Lonely Planet under my arm I set out for the days research I needed to do.

What a result. No one came anywhere near me and I had the whole day in peace and quiet. Sure some people where laughing at me, but that has never been a concern of mine, sticks and stones and all that and I would never see any of them again.

Can I suggest you go to a fancy dress shop and buy a fake moustache and beard? Or how about one of those tazers people talk about on other threads? The site of a couple of unconcious males at your feet should deter the rest.

As for any serious suggestions, I guess as a man if I did ever approach a woman on the beach (I wouldn't as I'm actually quite shy) I would most definately accept a "Please, I would just like to be alone, no offence intended"

Get alot of that in the Netherlands then?

either im having serious de ja vous, or ive seen this topic somewhere else?

yeah, was in bedlam, have already replied, but here I go again...

Really large dark glasses, walkman or ipod & a book or magazine. if your approached just ignore them, they will see the walkman & think you can't hear thenm & with the dark glasses they can't see your eyes to know if your awake or not.

It's all in the aura... I find my "Disturb at your own peril" aura works best! :o:D

I remember reading somewhere way back when (couldn't pinpoint the topic tho), that girlfrombar was actually a farang man disguising himself as a thai woman.

Wish I could remember who posted that bit of information.

Anyway, I rarely get harassed in Thailand, much more so in the US. Usually any harassment here comes from touts trying to sell me a taxi, flowers, fruit etc.

:o

i'm a woman, not a farangman

when i travel alone, cant help but meet any stranger guys who trying to buzz around inviting me in weird forms; u want some fruits um.. orange juice? thx gosh he didnt ask for banana! <- the dutch (one the bus); how much? <- the brit (on the beach)..

no best solution

but i sometimes feel regret for the nice guys/peole who come in politely while i just dont feel like to respond (heaven always playing around like this; when u feel to have someone, none ever comes but when u wanna shut down, suddenly bunch of the birds/bees come from no where!)

Well, i have a simple solution!!

I have been holidaying on Samui for the past 5 years and i find that going on holiday with 3 big, ex rugby playing male friends helps!! They body guard me, feed and water me and are really great!!

But a good book would probably have the same effect.

By the way we never meet up here at home until someone calls about the next holiday!! Suits me....

You can print this with my permission.

Could be why 5 million guys a year come to Thailand and rent a pleasant girlfriend for the week.

No, I think you'll find it's something else entirely that makes them HAVE to do that :o

my ex in england always used to wear a really big engagement ring (not real, just a cheap plastic one) to 'keep the flies off' as she put it.

didnt stop me chatting her up at nottingham station though - bet she wishes she wore a bigger ring now :o

"Je suis desole, mais je ne parle pas anglais" can work.
