tourist visa from KL

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

Thanks in advance for your help.

An easy one for you guys I think: I'm currently in KL for a few days. I fly back to Phuket, where I currently live (but will move out of the country soon, in a few weeks, couple of months maximum) on Wednesday morning (so I have tomorrow left for any administration task, since Tuesday is holiday in Malaysia).

I know the immigration/visa rules have been changing recently, so I don't know for sure what the deal is (so far, I was on a 1 year B non immigration visa that just expired, which is why I am in KL now). What I think, is that I will get from arrival to Phuket a 2 months visa, that I can extend of another month just prior the expiration of the 2 month period. Is this correct? If not, what is the deal? Do I need to go tomorrow to the Consulate of Thailand to find out more? Or their website? Thanks for your help.

If you have a tourist visa you get a 60 day entry that you can extend for 30 day at immigration. Without a visa you will only get a 30 day visa exempt entry if you qualify for it.

You must apply for the tourist visa at the embassy in KL.

Thanks. Would you happen to know how long it takes to apply for tourist visa at the embassy in KL? I hope it is just a matter of a few hours, and that I can process everything within the same day/few hours. Is it so? (Im a French citizen).

KL will return passport with visa the following day early afternoon.

Thanks so much. I just learnt that Tuesday September 16 is actually bank holiday in KL. Would you know if Thai Embassy is closed that day? If I submit my passport Monday September 15, when do you think I can have it back with visa? Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday? Thanks again.

I don't really know so you may want to give them a call tomorrow.

If it is a bank holiday you can bet 100% it will be closed. Why wouldn't it be ?
