Police Bust Counterfeit Milk Network, Seize Over 4 Million Baht Worth of Fake Products
Authorities from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), led by the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), have dismantled a counterfeit network selling fake Ensure Gold powdered milk. The operation resulted in the seizure of 5,370 cans of the fraudulent product across 13 items, with an estimated total value of 4.5 million baht. The proliferation of online sales platforms has made health products more accessible but has also increased the prevalence of counterfeit goods. Following complaints from consumers and reports from the manufacturer, police discovered fake Ensure Gold products being sold online. This powdered milk, marketed for seniors at risk of malnutrition, is often used as a primary or supplementary meal. Consumption of counterfeit products could lead to health risks, as they may lack the expected nutrients or contain harmful substances. On November 15, 2024, officers from CPPD Unit 4 executed search warrants at two locations in Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom: 1. Packing Facility: A residential property in Khun Kaew Subdistrict was found to house 1,535 counterfeit cans of Ensure Gold (vanilla flavor, 850g) and related packing equipment. A man named Mr. Monop and a woman named Ms. Wiriya were arrested while packing products for shipment. 2. Storage Facility: Another residential property in the same area contained 3,840 counterfeit cans of Ensure Gold (vanilla flavor, 850g) and packing materials. A Chinese national, Mr. Chen, claimed ownership of the site. In total, 5,375 cans of counterfeit products and related items were seized from the two locations. The counterfeit network advertised fake products online, using Chinese-language store names and offering the milk powder at discounted prices (690 baht for an 850g can, compared to the usual 1,000+ baht). The network frequently changed store names to evade detection. The operation employed local residents for packing and shipping, promising monthly wages of 15,000 to 30,000 baht. A suspect revealed that they were hired by a Chinese individual, Mr. Wang, to pack and dispatch orders daily through private courier services. In just 15 days, the team now handled 100–200 orders per day. Samples of the counterfeit product will be tested by the Department of Medical Sciences to identify any prohibited substances. If found unsafe, the perpetrators could face additional charges under the Food Act, which imposes penalties of up to two years in prison, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both. Currently, the following charges apply: 1. Selling counterfeit food: Punishable by 6 months to 10 years in prison and a fine of 5,000 to 100,000 baht. 2. Selling mislabeled food products: Punishable by a fine of up to 30,000 baht. Authorities urge the public to be cautious when approached with offers to pack and ship products, as they may unknowingly participate in illegal activities. Picture courtesy of CIB -- 2024-11-20 -

Foreign man flees after sexually assaulting Thai woman in condo lift - video
Foreign man flees after sexually assaulting Thai woman in condo lift. But the description in the report does not say anything that is deemed sexual assault. he touched her face her hands and some other areas on body. Did he grab her pu--y or a-- or boo--? Sexual assault Sexual assault happens when someone either touches another person in a sexual manner without consent or makes another person touch them in a sexual manner without consent. It includes unwanted kissing and the touching of someone's genitals, breasts or bottom. Seems perhaps some exaggeration is being made here to make it seem a lot worse than it was. The man may have been drunk and grabbed her. But was it sexual assault? Perhaps not. -

Fire Breaks Out in Tissue Paper Warehouse, Contained in Time
A fire broke out at a tissue paper storage warehouse in Soi Petchngam, Phraeksa Mai, Samut Prakan, narrowly avoiding a complete disaster. Thanks to the swift actions of workers from a nearby warehouse, who used chemical fire extinguishers, moved stock and called the fire service, the blaze was contained before it could engulf the entire facility. The incident occurred at approximately 18:00 on November 18. Pol. Lt. Col. Samai Charoenrat of Bang Pu Police Station received the report and dispatched multiple fire engines from the Phraeksa Mai Municipality and neighbouring districts to the scene. The fire originated in Warehouse 10 of a large storage complex, which was filled with stacks of tissue paper. Workers from nearby warehouses helped to move some of the stock outside while firefighters battled the flames. Due to the fire burning beneath the stacks of tissue paper, firefighters had to cut through the warehouse’s sheet metal walls to directly spray water on the flames. After approximately 50 minutes, the fire was successfully extinguished. Initial inspections revealed that part of the warehouse had been modified into an office area. The stored tissue paper suffered partial damage, but fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Mrs. Areewan Moka, 54, the warehouse manager, stated that the warehouse was leased to another party. She had previously warned the tenants about fire hazards and the improper stacking of goods, which made it difficult to access the area for maintenance. “I advised them to leave clear walkways, but they didn’t organize the space properly,” she said. A nearby warehouse worker noticed the fire and alerted her, allowing the situation to be addressed quickly. Mrs. Chananchida Kerdsawat, 45, the head technician, mentioned that the fire appeared to have started in the middle of the warehouse. The facility was closed at the time, and she had locked it at around 16:00, seeing no signs of any issues. By 18:00 smoke was spotted coming from the building. “The warehouse has electrical wiring running in rows, but the exact cause is still unclear,” she noted. Mr. Saeng Saikaew, 31, a supervisor at a neighbouring warehouse, said he saw the fire while working nearby. “I grabbed a hammer to break open the door, as no one was inside. We used 12 fire extinguishers to try to control the flames while calling the fire department,” he explained. Police have recorded the incident and will coordinate with forensic officials to investigate the cause of the fire further. Legal proceedings will follow as necessary. Biden lifts restrictions on Ukraine using US weapons to strike deep inside Russia.
Making it up? The Mujahadeen didn't "win". Gorbachev decided to leave. You must have proof of Putin saying that, to make out it's a fact. No proof and it's not true. -

Los Angeles Takes a Stand as an Immigration 'Sanctuary'
Los Angeles, the second-largest city in the United States, is positioning itself in direct opposition to President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration policies. The city council is set to pass a "sanctuary city" ordinance that would prevent local resources from being used to assist federal immigration authorities. Alongside this move, the Los Angeles public school system plans to declare itself a "sanctuary" for undocumented immigrants and LGBTQ students through emergency resolutions. Trump, who will take office in two months, has vowed to implement mass deportations. His chosen "border czar," Tim Homan, a former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has strongly criticized sanctuary cities. Homan recently told Fox News, "Nothing will stop us from deporting migrant criminals. We're going to do the job with you, or without you." These statements echo Trump's campaign rhetoric targeting sanctuary cities, where local governments limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. Sanctuary city designations are not legally defined but reflect various local approaches, such as altering policing practices or enacting specific laws. Last week, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass released a draft of a long-anticipated sanctuary city ordinance. According to council member Nithya Raman, the ordinance aims to codify a 2019 executive order into city law by barring federal immigration enforcement from using city facilities or resources. Raman explained to CBS News that the ordinance also seeks to restrict data sharing, further safeguarding undocumented immigrants within the city. Other cities, including Boston and New York, have pledged similar commitments to resist federal immigration enforcement. Los Angeles’ efforts extend to its school system, located approximately 140 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. The school board will vote on emergency resolutions that directly challenge anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ sentiment, which board president Jackie Goldberg attributes to the incoming administration. “We’re not going to be running in fear,” Goldberg told the *Los Angeles Times*. “We’re going to fight you, every inch of the way.” One resolution reaffirms the district’s commitment to immigrant students, families, and staff, framing Trump’s election as the victory of a candidate with an anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ+ agenda. The school board is also considering implementing a high school course to educate students on current events and extending existing non-discrimination policies to cover not just students but also their families, employees, and relatives. California’s laws already prohibit schools from inquiring about students' immigration status, reflecting the state's sizable population of mixed-status families. Although federal law mandates public schools to enroll all eligible students, much of the governance is left to states and local districts. The Los Angeles resolutions seek to fortify protections in the face of what local leaders see as looming threats from the federal government. Based on a report by BBC 2024-11-20
