Hello,

I work in Thailand. I have a Work Permit, a Non B visa and a one year extension of stay.

Soon the conditions of my employment will change – my salary will be lower. In fact not high enough to grant me a one year extension of stay according to Thai immigration law.

My current, one year extension of stay will expire in December, I will sign a new contract with a lower salary next month.

What do have to do? Do I need to leave the country. obtain a new visa an based on that a new extension of stay requiring me to leave the country every 90 days? O can I do it without leaving the country, in my local immigration?

thanks in advance,

If your salary will be below the treashold for your nationality you can simply not get an extension of stay.

Instead you get an extensoion of your WP as usual and with that and papers from the company can apply for a multiple non-B via, requiring you to leave the country every 90 days. For this you must make sure that your WP has a validity of at least 10 months left when you apply for the visa. So extend the WP first and then go to Penang or such to get a multiple non-B.

With less than 10 months on the WP you will only get a single non-B.

Thanks,

One more thing. I extended my WP already, maybe a week ago and it's valid till October 2016. And it still has the old, higher (over the required threshold) salary stamped inside. I'll sign the new contract soon. Should I bother with changing whats in my WP or maybe I can even try and get another permit to stay based on whats currently written in my WP?

cheers,

What needs to be changed is if the position (job description) or location changes.

I am not aware that the salary was also noted in the WP and can't answer your question about that. Better ask the labour office.

Immigraiton will not only go on your WP, they will aslo want to see tax documents stating your income.

My work permit states that I earn 30.000 baht / month, this was recommended by my lawyer to get the work permit.

I have extension of stay based on marriage and money in bank.
