Visa transfer at Nong kai

Featured Replies

I have a tourist visa I need to transfer to my new passport in Nong kai. Will they let me do this after the closing time of the immigration office. It closes at around 5 but I will be there at 8pm. What will happen in this instance?? I'm flying up so could they do this at an airport. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What will happen is you will get there and it will be shut.

Immigration will not transfer a tourist visa to a new passport, but the visa is still valid and can be used up to it's expiration date. You will need to show both the old and new passports on entry and your permission to stay stamp will be put in the new passport

But they will send me to the immigration office near the bridge that will be closed by the time I get there... It closes at 5. Last time I went there expecting to get it sorted out at the border they sent me to the office to do it there.

It is a tourist visa extension

Not the actual visa

They will do the stamp transfer at the bridge. They will make an annotation of your previous entry in your new passport and stamp you out of the country in it.

You will have show the visa in your old passport when you re-enter the country. Visas cannot be transferred.
