Immigration mistake, weird situation

Featured Replies

Went to immigration today to do a tourist 30 days extension and just found out that they printed in passeport that i can stay in Thailand until October 2015

What should i do? never happened before

Go back to immigration and have the error corrected or leave on or before the correct date.

Obviously a mistake?

Errors are made. So many reports about wrong stamps.

Another reminder of the parole: check your stamps.

Guess they is no better option, than to go to immigration again and get it fixed.

I would not rely on that the mistake will not be noticed when leaving in the oncoming 30 days.

And of course not simply take it for granted and stay until next year.

Surely no need for this, unless the OP felt that his stay in LOS would not be complete without the "joy" of another prolonged experience of the inside of an immigration office?

He could simply exit the country on or before the actual correct date next month, as suggested by ubonjoe.

Don't try and stay in Thailand until the wrong date.

I know someone who did this.

He was given the wrong stamp and ended up with 6 months instead of 30 days.

Thought it would be OK to chance it as immigration was at fault not him.

Stayed for almost 6 months and then found himself in trouble next time he tried to leave the country via a border.

They weren't content just with overstay payment but tried to force him into paying an extra 10K baht to 'fix the problem' making out if it wasn't fixed there would be ramifications for him.

I have to disagree, reason being you never know what the mood of the Immigration officer is at that moment in time. He (the OP) could paying a "bribe" because he didn't go and report it. And his (the OP) defense can't be I didn't know as he is leaving on the correct date

But then again TiT and YMMV.
