Urgent: where to pay overstay before asking for an extension?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

i just realized i overstayed for 5 days and would like to know where should i pay the overstaying fine in Bangkok before going to the immigration office to get an extension ( for 60 days TR visa).

At the Bangkok Immigration, but possibly better, leave the country and come back by air (30 days) or land (15 days) if you from the G 7 countries = 30 days, visa exempt stay, than you could extent that stay for anther 30 days at a Thai Immigration.

=Extending a 60 day tourist visa, With 2 weeks overstay. Question.=

"People with overstay do sometimes indeed simply pay the overstay and then get the extension. The question is how long an overstay will they find aceptable.

Simply go to immigration and try your luck, but be prepared to leave the country the same day if they deny you."

They will let you pay the fine and then do the extension.

At the Bangkok Immigration.

thank you. Where is the Bangkok immigration office located :)?

It is correct. If you apply for an extension before going on overstay you can avoid paying an overstay fine.

Also that webpage is out of date. Bangkok immigration moved to it's current location about 5 years ago.

thanks guys!

when you pay the overstay fine (for 5 days), do you get any stamp on your passport stating you overstayed? (this is the first time i overstay)

Yes. And it does NOT preclude you from, e.g getting a visa, extensions, coming back to Thailand, or anything else.
