webfact
PM vows government seeking solutions to forced labourBy Digital ContentBANGKOK, Sept 24 -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha promised today that his government would quickly tackle the problems of forced labour and human trafficking.Regarding labour abuse in the fisheries industry, Gen Prayut said he was following up solutions to the problem and ordered the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to help victims immediately.Concerned authorities would verify the complaints that those who were helping abused workers faced threats. He said such influences should not exist."Brokers and mafia-styled businesses must be controlled. Such businesses cannot exist without a leader or protection. They must be tackled. It will be the best if no government officials are involved as that will facilitate solutions," the prime minister said.Jirasuk Sugandhajati, permanent secretary for labour, marking the 21st anniversary of the Ministry of Labour, said that the ministry would promote employment, skills development to cope with the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, the development of special economic zones and solutions to the country's labour shortage.Registration of workers and verification of their nationality would help solve the problem of unfair fees by job brokers, he said. Commerce
Is he going to start with the 'major' influences; such as the mayor of Samut Sakhon and his police advisors? Top down doesn't exist here! Bottom up...... fine... kill them before they speak, and hurt my 'face'.
rickirs
" It will be the best if no government officials are involved as that will facilitate solutions," the prime minister said." Is the "no" a typo, mistranslation, or for real? I can't imagine the head of government saying that government officials should not be involved. Alwyn
Mind boggling... "It's better that no government officials are involved as that will facilitate solutions" I was under the impression that it was a solution that was required to stop this or is he implying the solution would be backhanders to the government officials? It seems every time the PM opens his mouth he put's his foot into it? Still, 97% of the voters voted for him so it must be okay.....
