Cabinet to consider economic boost and appoint new key government officials

BANGKOK, 1 October 2014 (NNT)-The cabinet is going to consider several key economic and national issues in today’s meeting, which has been rescheduled for today instead of yesterday as Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha had a previous engagement.

The cabinet is expected to consider assigning high profile civil servants to permanent secretary positions at the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Health and the Office of National Security Council. A new director general of the Royal Irrigation Department and the Department of Special Investigation will also be sought.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is planning to seek the cabinet’s approval for a budget of 2 billion baht. According to the Ministry, the fund is in line with a policy to promote a short-term economic boost.

It consists of creating jobs in rice growing areas where water is inadequate and identifying suitable agro-economic zones for rice and para-rubber tree growing.
