October 9, 201411 yr Projection of 18 celsius degrees early next Wednesday morning in Chiang Mai; which may put mittens on scooter boys. http://www.wunderground.com/weather-forecast/zmw:00000.1.48327?
October 9, 201411 yr I thought it must have just been me coming down with something, but at 5.15 this morning I was shivering and had to dig out my dressing gown, it felt so cold I was tempted to go back to bed. I put the quilt onto the bed a few days ago even though it's only October, as it has been cooling off a bit for the last couple of weeks. Be the change that you wish to see in the world. October 9, 201411 yr We were at the Queens Garden today before 6AM for the Monk ceremony/giving/parade and the temps were fine....couple of thousand folks there but not clustered - no one looked to be coldish.....
October 9, 201411 yr My Min/max showed 25.4c outside last night - bit colder yet would be good so I can sleep without a fan on the go. Got my new 6kw water heater installed yesterday though just in case-- not into cold showers
October 9, 201411 yr I've only had the ceiling fan on once in the last 2 weeks, and I am a very 'hot' person, I feel the heat more than the average person and have to have fans on me (no air con because of Mr K's sinus problems) most of the time. I even have a fan in the kitchen for when I'm pottering about (beef rendang made with fresh coconut tonight), and I have a fan pointing at me right now, but as for nights and early mornings I'm really feeling the chill, which I don't recall so early from previous years. We have moved though, and are alongside the river. The breeze, which has been brisk lately, comes along the water before coming to us, directly through the many windows and patio door facing it, so I'm assuming it cools as it comes towards us. I noticed this during the very hot weather too, that breeze is very, very cooling. Am I just making that up or would it be right? Serious (for once) question. October 9, 201411 yr Hubby came home from his walk at dawn today commenting that it must be autumn because the dogs in the Old City were wearing their doggie coats. Nowhere else but Thailand do they dress up the pets when the temp dips below 25 deg C.
October 9, 201411 yr There are ways of keeping warm during the long cold season nights in Chiang Mai. Do what the Eskimos do: Edited October 9, 201411 yr by Beetlejuice
October 9, 201411 yr I still recommend the old camp favorite. Zip 2 sleeping bags together. Hoka Hoka warm bliss...
October 9, 201411 yr Yup. October 15th. That's the day to swap placement of the indoor and outdoor A/C units.
October 9, 201411 yr There are ways of keeping warm during the long cold season nights in Chiang Mai. Do what the Eskimos do: Have a threesome?
October 10, 201411 yr That would depend on their particular fetish, no? Be the change that you wish to see in the world. Mahatma Gandhi
October 10, 201411 yr Great time of the year for most of us,right through to the end of February.I can never understand people complaining about low temperatures and feeling cold when the average winter max is around 26/28 degrees and clear blue skies nearly every day .A group of us swim right through the "cool" season here and its quite comfortable for us. I think I've worn a jumper once in CM in 6 years and that was going up to Doi Ithanon where it was chilly. Maybe I'm just a cool weather person but give me now over April to September any time
October 10, 201411 yr A group of us swim right through the "cool" season here and its quite comfortable for us. The local equivalent of the Polar Bear Club. I usually have to stop swimming for a few weeks, at least, but I agree with you on everything else.

Nowhere else but Thailand do they dress up the pets when the temp dips below 25 deg C. The trouble is that when they're on they're on and don't come off when the temp hits 35 deg C.........ridiculous!
October 20, 201411 yr Somehow i doubt that the Eskimos are in the sack sockless. Socks are for Vals. -Latres on the Menjay, arunsakda
October 20, 201411 yr Somehow i doubt that the Eskimos are in the sack sockless. When I was a scout leader I would take the kids camping and always tell them to put on clean socks before going to bed and wear a toque. In one camp the kids dug them selves a snow cave and were warm all night. Most of the body heat will be lost through the top of the head. If nights are cold get a sleeping hat like Scrooge wore.

It depends on you definition of 'most' If your head is the only uncovered part of your body then most of the heat will be lost there, likewise if your feet are the only uncovered part of your body then most of the heat will be lost there. If all your body is uncovered then your head will lose pretty much as much heat as any other part of your body
