1 year Extension of stay based on marriage timing ISSUE.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

wondering if you could help me answer a few question regarding my wife visa issue.

she's currently on her 3 month non-o visa (1 month and 15 days left before her next extension)....and i need to know if its possible to extend her visa to a year NOW, or do i have to wait for her visa to last exactly 30 days.

Itll be quite an issue since ill have to be back offshore in a few days and by time i come back(1 month) she'll have exactly 15 days left in her visa and i dont know if thats enough to apply for a year extension.

Ive been looking around for answer but havent found anything...hope you guys can help me out.

Cheers.

Sam

The normal rule is 30 days, but some offices will do it at 45. It all depends on what office you use. Where do you do your extensions?

Many immigration offices now allow doing the extension 45 days early. If they are using the 30 day rule most would probably make an exception if you explain your situation.

But I am not sure what kind of extension your wife is applying for. Is she going to a apply for an extension of stay as your dependent based upon you having an extension of stay?

Hi wayne, thanks for replying,

i plan to have it done at Chaeng Wattana same as the last time.So it it is possible or do i have to put my Thai persuasion skill to work?

Wasn't much trouble getting the the 3 month non-o, but been hearing the guys talking about needing some extra documents like the Khor Ror 2(Up to date marriage cert) for the 1 year extension.

Is it really necessary? considering we just got married like 3 months ago.

Anyway...if you could clarify some more, it'll be big help.

Thanks

Sorry...i should have explained more...

I'm a Thai citizen and she's a Filipino.

She's currently on her non-o visa based on marriage to me(3 months)

I'm just wondering if i could just extend her visa to a year now without having to wait till she got 30 days left because it'll be a logistical nightmare for me to travel back all the way from the sea,

p/s- she currently have 1 month and 15 days left on her visa.

cheers

She should be able to do the extension early. If you are Bangkok or any of the larger cities they allow doing the extension 45 days early.

She will get a 30 day under consideration stamp when she applies for the extension and will not get her one extension stamp until after that period. She will have to go back to get it but you do not have to be with her then.

Immigration may make a house visit to confirm that you are living as husband and wife during those 30 days. You not being here might create a problem then but with proof you are out working it should not that be that big a problem. You can talk to immigration about it when you do your statement during the application process.

Thanks Joe...we''ll give it a try tomorrow and see how it goes.

She can do the extension on the last day. She doesn't have to do it early.

Better early, though, in case of any problems, but it can be done last minute.
