Kitchen Drawer Units & Wall Cabinets, Standard Size - Where?

Hi guys,

We're looking for a couple of kitchen drawer units - standard sized, in plastic, imitation wood or paintable wood. Yes, plastic (ugh!) - but we have a (possible) problem with pluak (termites), so we're trying to avoid real wood, or at least 'edible' wood, if possible. rolleyes.gif

Our current idea is to build the normal Thai cement kitchen base cupboards and supplement with two drawer units - a 'must have' for any kitchen.

Also looking for some non-wood kitchen wall cabinets to hang above the kitchen counter.

Still, we're out in the sticks with no furniture shops or stores. We're due for a visit to CM pretty soon, so any info on where to buy single units (we don't need a whole kitchen) would be appreciated. We already have guys to install the units - if we can find any, that is....whistling.gif

Maybe we can even use units that are not primarily designed for a kitchen - i.e. office furniture or special-trades furniture.

Any help appreciated.

I bought a set of furniture such as wardrobe, kitchen cupboard (i.e. a dresser) and a 24 bay book cupboard used for storing food, cans etc. I didn't worry about termites as the cupboards were quite cheap, but good quality, bought from one of the Indian-run stores in Chiang Moi Rd. Three large cupboards were very reasonably priced, and the dresser had six glass doors and lots of room for plates, cutlery, food storage below.

I got extra drawers of plastic at Home Pro which were no doubt meant to be for tools, but they hold kitchen gear quite nicely.

I totally avoided the cheap aluminium kitchen and sink set, as I had one in a condo a couple of years ago. I almost put an extra hole in my head when one door opened and I stood up under it. They are sharp! They are difficult to close.

I'm sure some TV readers will have some ideas of termite proofing a kitchen floor.

Aluminium - now there's something I could be interested in (drawers, only)! Will have to look into that....err...somehow, wink.png

Thanks for the Home Pro info - very useful - and we'll take a look in there.

That's now on our "to do" list!

And it ain't the kitchen floor we're worried about, as it's tiles, but anything of wood risks getting eaten by termites....

Cheers
