thairookie
I had 3 back to back visa exemption stamps, each lasting 15 days, during a stretch of period from December 2013 to February 2014. Just last week I returned to Bangkok after an almost 8 month stay outside Thailand. I was only asked if I had a tourist visa for this particular trip, and I said 'no' because I was only going to be in Thailand for only 10 days. The IO smiled. It seems that everything is back to normal. They are not looking at past records.
Jimbo
You were gone for 8 months. Hardly means that all is back to "normal".
ukrules
You're clearly not living here long term. If you stay for 30 days, extend for another 30 days and then continue repeat this cycle a few times I suspect you might find some issues a few months down the road.

saakura
Sure they will wai and welcome you with a smile. Stay for 45 days and return after 8 months. This is the kind of long stay tourists they are looking for.

thai20144
Any shortage of English Teachers since the crackdown on Visa runners? I believe Thailand has not benefited at all from this crackdown and probably Thailand is losing a lot economically. The IO at Don Muang n Suvanabhumi are still very strict.
