Can labor office give a receipt that will be good enough for immigration extension?

So it turns out the waiver is all set in BKK. But now I've heard it takes 7 days waiting to get the work permit.

Can/does the labor office give some sort of receipt that will be good enough for immigration to make the extension? Or do they require the actual work permit?

You will need a work permit for a first time application.

If you were changing schools it would be possible.

So no possible way they will accept just a receipt showing I've applied and its on the way?

Crap. Seems best course now is just go use this tourist visa.

Why is it unreasonable. A first time applicant would of had over 90 days to of gotten the work permit done.
