I have two uk passports. I'm currently in Phuketet airport and away to fly to KL with a return flight this afternoon.

I wanted to come in on another passport, would immigration question why I don't have a stamp for Malaysia?

The reason I ask is because I don't want to come in on the same passport I'm leaving on in case there's a problem flying out and in on the same day. Am I just being too paranoid?

I am not a psychiatrist, so can't answer the question abut you being paranoid.

Using an airport you can switch passport. But immigration is through their database very well capable of spotting that. Then they can ask question and you would not gain anything by the use of another passport.

Switching passports is no issue by air travel, but be aware that Thai custom is aware that you have two passports and questions my rise for back to back entering Thailand.

The question arises on HOW you have two UK passports, as far as I'm aware only one is valid!

The UK and other countries as well allow you to have 2 passports if you need them for business reasons.

For example having one passport sent off for a visa and needing to travel while you wait for your passport to come back.

Just like to ask, I leave Thailand for a couple of months and come back in January, I have a retirement visa with multi in and out, my uk passport runs out in March and I am planning to get myself a new passport while back in the uk, will this cause me any problems when coming back in.

No it will not, just carry both passports. You will need a latter from you embassy authorizing transfer of the extension on the new one.

Once you are back in with both passports you will have to go to immigration to have your retirement extension transferred to the new passport. You will most likely have to have a letter from the UK Embassy in Bangkok to do this. There have been reports that they will issue them of free by post but you need to contact them direct to see what the process is. Guess what, the letter from the UK Embassy is actually free and so is the stamp transfer at immigration, so it's only the hassle of doing it. Good luck!

A problem may arise from the airline you travel with , they want passport numbers, unless you have declared both numbers, one for out and one for the return journey,

This is not a problem, as long the person is the same the airline can enter a different passport number at time of boarding.
